About us

My name is Brian Cone (I always seem to be on the left in photos). I created the Henry Scholarship program in 2009 as a way to give back to a community I believe gave me so much. In a lot of ways I believe that Montezuma county is the greatest place on earth and full of great people. Kids there deserve so much more opportunity than they have today.

When the program got a little too big for me to do on my own, my brother Craig started helping me.

OUR VISION

OUR MISSION

Our belief is that the best way for young people to empower themselves is through either a STEM based undergraduate degree or a technical trade. We hope you do to.  We decided to base our scholarship program on the idea that college preparation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Professions and Trades that contribute to substantially to our society are the most beneficial skills in our ever evolving world. Designing, creating, building or providing something of substance is better than just being the middleman in a sales pitch.

That is why we have two scholarships.

I've named one of them after my Grandfather - W. Henry Cone. He was a longtime resident at the Madison House. He is a great example of how far a great education can take you.

The Henry Scholarship is for a young, budding scientist or engineer who wants to go forth and study great things and create new things using the power of their intuition and creativity.

I named the second one after my dad - Bill. Probably the smartest man to every play in a sprinkler, he will be be greatly missed by myself and our family forever.

The Bill Scholarship is also for a young budding person who intends on applying them-self in a trade or profession that will immediately give them a marketable skill (think areas like welding, fabrication, aircraft/auto tech, nursing, networking, drafting, IT, electronics... this list is not meant to be all inclusive - just a smattering of examples).

THIS IS WHO WE ARE!
THIS IS WHAT WE DO!
Applicants rarely ask, "How much do you pay out?" My answer is that our scholarship value is always increasing. It started at $500.
Today our Scholarships range from $1250 to $3000.
